Good Morning Oats!

Image

It was raining this morning when I woke up, and I didn’t find any better way to start my morning with but to cook some oats. It’s really amazing how one meal can warm your body in a chilly weather.

I got Quaker White Oats and I heard that it drops pounds instantaneously if followed correctly.

The traditional oatmeal recipe didn’t appeal to me, but I insisted to try another recipe to lose some pounds. I found a chocolate oatmeal recipe from the famous Food website, modified some ingredients, and turned it into the best breakfast meal I could ever have.

I noticed that whenever I cook this meal, I turn warm immediately. I actually got a bit slimmer when I ate it for one week regularly, and my stomach was full for a couple of hours.

To take the guilt off my shoulders for adding more chocolate to my meals, I web-surfed chocolate benefits today and enriched my chocolate background with fun facts. According to The University of The West Indies, cocoa has been shown to have numerous health benefits:

  • Promotion of cardio-vascular health
  • Decreased oxidation of LDL to prevent atherosclerosis or plaque formation
  • Reduction in LDL cholesterol
  • Suppression of decay-causing bacteria and plaque formation (Water-soluble cocoa extracts)
  • Anti-depressant and euphoric  effects (from Tryptophan in chocolate)
  • General improvement in health and well-being of elderly menNow, you can safely apply the recipe daily and feel guilty-free as well!
  • Ingredients:

– 1/2 cup of Quaker oats or any old fashioned oats

– 1 cup of skimmed milk.(Melt 2 tablespoons of powder milk if available)

I used the cup below for both milk and oats to reduce the confusions. Some of my friends tried the recipe, but it didn’t turn out the way they thought would be.

– 2 tablespoons of cocoa

– 1-2 tablespoons of sugar

For chocoholics:

Add a Galaxy Caramel bar, cookies, or any type of chocolate on the top.

  • Recipe:

– Heat milk and sugar in a small saucepan until it starts to bubble.

– Add the oats and lower the heat temperature till medium.

Image

– Wait till it’s totally indulged with the milk, and add cocoa.

– Stir the mixture until thickened.

– Slice the Galaxy bar into pieces and add it to the mixture.

– Let it cool for 1 minute and add the crunched cookies to stir.

You can serve it with fruits instead of the crunched cookies on the top or whatever that makes it more delicious.

If you have any extra recommendations for the recipe or feedback, I’d be more than happy to reply.

Guten Appetit!

Indulge In The Chocolate Brownie Fudge!

Image    I’ve been awake since 7:30 a.m. just to study for my first exam next Thursday. It’s been like that for the past 3 days. I don’t know if I was the only one who gets fat when he/she studies, but I, surprisingly, never regret it. I have to keep my mouth busy while I’m studying to indirectly gain some energy that helps me move on.

I was web-surfing today, trying to find something filled with chocolate to cook, and I found some recipes like “No Bake Oreo Cake“, “Chocolate Biscotti“, and many other dessert recipes. What got my attention for sure was “Chocolate Brownie Cake”, that I found on BBC Good Food. The picture was so attractive, and I got all of the ingredients at home, so I didn’t have to shop.

I always change something in the recipe, either the ingredients or some recipe steps.

I didn’t include pecan nuts in it because I’m not a big fan of nuts. I also used a rectangle shaped tin to bake the brownies.

It’s actually the first time I bake something without needing already-made cake mixes like Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines. It was a really fun experience especially with the great results eventually.

  • Ingredients:

– 175g unsalted butter (I used a light butter package.)

– 225g dark chocolate, chopped.

– 200g sugar.

– 3 eggs, separated to whites and yolks.

– 65g flour.

  • Recipe

–  Heat oven to 180C, and slightly butter a 20-25cm cake tin.

– If the chocolate was not chopped, try breaking it into medium pieces, then chop them into smaller pieces.

– Place 175g of the chopped chocolate into a heavy-pan, and heat gently until it’s melted. Cool it for a while, and then add  sugar and butter to stir.

– Whisk the egg yolks, and add it the chocolate mix with the flour and the rest of the chocolate.

Adding the butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and the rest of the chocolate chips.

 – Whisk the egg whites till they turn soft and fluffy peaks, then stir them thoroughly to the chocolate mixture.

– Start pouring the mix into the tin after butter-greasing it, and make sure it’s equal on all sides to prevent unequal sides when it’s baked.

Image

– Bake it for about 25-30 minutes. It depends on your oven.

Tip: Check every 5 minutes with inserting gently toothpicks into the tin.

Here’s a sneak-peak outside my oven!

– When it’s crusty on the top and the toothpick comes out clean, take the tin off, and cool it. You can shape the brownies the way you want. I shaped them as any traditional brownie; square shaped.

I’ll be happy to hear any recommendation that would make this recipe tastier!
